The Wines

Theres a tired saying that you’ll hear from winemakers that are finally starting their own brand “I just want to make wines that I want to drink,” as well-tread as that saying is, it rings true for many, myself included. I intend to make wines that I would have wanted to see when I first started working in the wine industry: differing styles of wine made from the same fruit, vineyard, and picking conditions.

An approachable way to understand the wide range of versatility within a variety and vineyard.

I love a blend! The first blend from Matt Crutchfield Wines! Although the goal is typically to display two expressions of the same site, the greater goal is always to make the best wine possible for you to enjoy.

50% Lost Slough Cortese, 25% Heringer Chenin, 25% Wilson Vineyards Chenin. All Clarksburg AVA. No time on skins, pressed to barrel for fermentation and aging for 11 months.

Fresh peeled mandarin on the nose, with pineapple, guava, and  flowering lemon balm on the palate.

A new beauty has landed! I’m thrilled to add this Falanghina into the mix! 2023 Falanghina comes from Lost Slough Vineyard, a site I’ve been working with for a couple years now.

Straight to the press - Straight to the barrel - Straight to the bottle - Straight to your glass! No time on skins, barrel aging, just pure textured white wine.

White pepper, ginger, spicy tangerine, pineapple sorbet

Guess who’s back?! The 3rd vintage of Skin Contact Chenin blanc! This wine is always ready to drink as soon as it gets to bottle.

Destemmed and fermented on skins, pressed to neutral oak for 11 months of aging. This new vintage is lighter in tannin, but still has plenty of textural presence that I love about skin fermenting Chenin Blanc. This year I decided to add about 10% Greco which adds to the color and mid palate of this wine.

Opening with food friendly salinity and honeydew melon. Complimented by citrus pith, ginger, and sage.

The 2nd installment of Skin Contact Cortese! Always the orange wine for those new to skin fermented whites/macerated whites/orange wine.

Whole cluster fermented for 13 days in stainless steel, when moved to neutral oak for 11 months. The soft skins of Cortese make it an approachable orange wine with low tannin.

Approachable tannin and bursting acidity are accompanied by a rainier cherry, pineapple, orange, and banana smoothie on the palate. White peach sorbet
